Bio
In
April 1973 myself and my sister together
with my father walked into a large wooden
hut in Rugby, Warwickshire, within which
were lots of other children, some younger,
some older that I, who appeared to be doing
some sort of wrestling on the ground. Little
did I know that that night was to be the
starting point of a journey that I am still
travelling. An amazing journey, which has
taken me not only to several counties to
train and teach but one that has taught
myself so much about myself and the life
that surrounds us all. A journey that has
taken me back to the country where my arts
came from, Japan, where I visit and train,
practise Zazen and experience the culture of
a wonderful, friendly people.
I was
lucky very lucky to find an old style
Ju-Jutsu and Karate-Jutsu club being taught
by someone who had actually lived and fought
through the second world war by using his
arts, as I grew within the arts I would
spend many hours with my master, John FARKAS,
learning practising and talking about the
arts. I went on and enhanced the knowledge
further within my chosen profession and
sought more experiences as my training
continued.
With
the passing of my master I inherited his
club and the title, which I seldom use of 'Soke',
To me titles are banners that people hide
behind and I am far from hiding behind
titles.
I run
my classes on a small friendly basis, we are
all of equal grade, just some of us have
been practising a little longer than others.
I am still as keen as that first day in
April 1973, the body gets tired quicker
these days but I still hunger to train all I
can, with whom I can

I myself am eternally grateful for being
shown the beauty of the arts by my master
and founder of Akai Hino Kai, Master John
Farkas. I am also indebted to those that I
have trained with over the years, for the
bruises, cuts, aches and pains along the
way. I must give special thanks to my
sister, Jean, for all the years that we
trained together,to my parents without whose
support and encouragement I would not be
where I am today within the arts. To the
numerous people that I have met along the
way, those that I have trained with.
