The PTC
(Professional Trainer Certificate) and what it
can do for you!
I passed my
PTC with MASTARR in April 2005.
Prior to this
course I had no recognised civilian teaching
qualification, though I had previous teaching
experience:
·
12 years military
service (TA), teaching in a number of subjects.
·
20+ years teaching
martial arts, nationally and internationally.
·
4 years teaching
security, Door Supervisors and Close Protection.
With less
than a year teaching the MASTARR courses and
attending a FAAW Course (First Aid at Work) I
had gained enough experience in teaching First
Aid and Health & Safety, to be taken on by my
local college as a Part time Lecturer. Within a
few months this also led to me being taken on as
a Part time First Aid Trainer for the Lancashire
County Councils First Aid in Schools Training
Team.
The college
position has enabled me to continue my own
professional development, with all the costs
funded by them. Over the last year I have
completed my 7407 level 4 Teaching Certificate,
City & Guilds (Stage1 & 2) and I have just
started the Cert Ed (Certificate in Education)
Year 2, which leads to qualified teacher status.
They are also funding my Advanced Health &
Safety course, which will enable me to teach the
CIEH Courses.
I have set my
own Training Company up and I currently have the
contract for teaching all the First Aid courses
in the North West, for the Staff of one of the
UKs largest disabled support charities.
I have
recently been appointed at one of the Training
Managers for MASTARR, which we have now
registered as a CIEH centre. This will enable my
own company and others like it, to use MASTARR
to register our courses and certificate CIEH
qualifications. This adds credibility to the
training we are delivering and opens the doors
into teaching in other areas of industry.
