I
started training in Shotokan Karate with
Sensei Ray Fuller at Coxheath Karate
Club. I managed after several years to
achieve my 2nd Black belt and
became an Instructor in a number of the
classes.
I
switched my training after some ten
years at Coxheath by training under Sifu
Chris Ellerker, Chief Instructor of the
Chinese Chang Chuen Shu Kung Fu style.
This proved to be a major change in my
martial arts career. Chris helped me to
achieve many things during my time with
him. Notably, meeting Shigong Kim Han,
achieving my 3rd Dan in Chang
Chuen Shu (Northern Shaolin Long Fist)
and becoming a member of the British Wu
Shu Team, competing in the 1990 Wu Shu
World Championships held in Kuala
Lumpur. During my times with the British
Wu Shu Team I have been fortunate to
travel to Europe and the Far East to
compete and train with some of the best
coaches and athletes in the country and
the world. I have been fortunate to win
gold medals in International
Competition, my most memorable being in
the International Nan Shaolin Wuzu Quan
Championships in China. One of the
highlights of my career was to be
presented, along with my wife Tracy, a
statue of Dhamo as a distinction for the
5 gold medals we jointly won in this
competition.
I (along
with Andy and other Team members)
have taken part and won a number of
medals in many of the competition
circuits around the UK (BNMA, BCCMA,
Combat, WFFO, EMA, WAKO, WKA, CIMAC, etc)
and abroad (France, Germany, Holland
to name a few) both in Traditional
and Wu Shu events.
Following the creation of KIXX with my
long-term good friend and training
partner Andy Bellamy, we approached
Shigong Kim Han with regard to him
overseeing the Martial Arts studies at
KIXX. As one of the highest qualified
Nan Shaolin Wuzu Quan (Southern
Shaolin 5 Ancestors Fist)
authorities in the world this was indeed
an honour for KIXX when he accepted.
I have
been very pleased and humbled by the
experiences gained under the tutelage of
Shigong Han, namely, travelling to China
and Malaysia to take part in very high
profile Far Eastern competitions and
demonstrations, meeting some of the most
impressive martial artists in the world
and seeing them perform, access to
training with some of the very top
people in their fields.

Han to improve my standard. |
